The story was named a Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Region 4 Finalist in the “Sports Writing (Small) 1-9,999 Students” category and was a National Finalist in the “Feature Writing (Small) 1-9,999 Students" category. It also won first place for “Sports Story” in the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association Keystone Press Awards

For the Waynesburg University student newspaper, The Yellow Jacket: A detailed report on the 2014-15 Division III women's basketball champion being stripped of its title a year and a half after winning it. Sydney Moss, three-time Division III Player of the Year and daughter of former NFL wide receiver Randy Moss, lived with a former assistant coach for eight months, making her ineligible for the 2014-15 season. The story was an SPJ Mark of Excellence Region 4 Finalist in the "Breaking News Reporting (Small) - 1-9,999 Students" and "Sports Writing (Small) - 1-9,999" categories. It also won second place for “General News” story by the PNA Keystone Press Awards

Waynesburg officials say properly handling sexual assault is a top priority
For the Waynesburg University student newspaper, The Yellow Jacket: A longform feature about the specific stigma sexual assault poses on Christian college campuses, leading to a unique front page (see picture). As part of a college course, the story took me about two and a half months to complete, as it contains information from more than 10 sources. The story was an SPJ Mark of Excellence Region 4 Finalist in the "In-Depth Reporting (Small) - 1-9,999 Students" category. It also won second place in the "Feature Story" and "Public Service/Enterprise Package" from the PNA Keystone Press Awards.
