Jacob Calvin Meyer
Jacob Calvin Meyer is an award-winning journalist with experience in sports, news and features writing. He currently works as a high school sports writer for the Baltimore Sun Media Group. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Jacob is filling in as a news reporter covering schools and other news in Howard County, Maryland.
Jacob has five years of experience as a journalist, with the last three years as a full-time reporter. Prior to starting at The York Dispatch, Jacob worked at the Observer Publishing Company in southwestern Pennsylvania. He covered high school and small college sports two days a week for the Observer-Reporter and local school districts, municipalities and features three days a week for The Almanac. In college, Jacob was Sports Editor of Waynesburg University’s award-winning student newspaper, The Yellow Jacket. In total, Jacob has won 20 journalism awards for his sports coverage, feature writing and news reporting.
Jacob takes pride in writing beyond the box score with his ability to look at sports from different angles. As a former college athlete, a sports journalist and an award-winning news reporter, Jacob covers games, writes breaking news stories and crafts breathtaking features from perspectives that often go overlooked.
